who we are

(and why we care)

With some studies now suggesting that up to 3 in 10 kids struggle with social skills by the time they start school, we’re on a mission to help teach kids essential social skills through engaging, personalized stories and activities. Lagging social skills can impact our kids ability to learn and form relationships and over time, we can start to see the impact of this in their self-confidence. We all want to see our kids thrive - and we believe a core foundational element is their social skills - enabling them to thrive at school and in other social settings.

Why we care

Connective Kids was originally born out of a personal need. As a parent of a son with Autism and ADHD, I struggled with the resources I was being given by a number of the professional team we were working with - often focusing on limitations rather than strengths. After (a lot!) of trial and error with both neurodiverse and neurotypical kids, I found that there were three main elements that were essential to embed the learning of these skills:

  1. We need to use the opportunity to understand how our kid thinks. This helps arm the parents or teachers with insight that is incredibly useful to apply in day-to-day scenarios and the conversations we have with them.

  2. Our kids need to find it engaging. Having them feel part of the story is key to them wanting to pick it up again and again. Repetition is important for helping to embed skills and our stories are designed in a way that they can be personalized - seeing themselves and their creativity in their story.

  3. It is critical to celebrate the wins alongside our kids as they learn. Recognizing small wins, often, helps to keep our kids on track to embed the skills they’re lagging.

Each story we create is crafted to address these critical elements that not only help our kids to learn more effectively, but also help to strengthen the relationship, understanding and connection we have with our kids.

What we offer

At connectivekids.com you’ll find a range of downloadable e-books that include additional resources that help to build connection and embed social skill learning. Our books cover a range of social topics, from navigating friendships and school life, to handling special occasions. We are continually building our library of content across a range of topics, but if you have something you’d like us to cover, please get in touch and we’ll create something for you.

We also know how hard it is trying to find the latest information, studies and articles around our kids development and their social skills, and we’re building out a resource hub to consolidate the best resources from across a range of professional publications.
